I’d hoped for a glorious sunset but all I had were clouds. That didn’t matter in the end as the view was fantastic.

My initial reaction was to sit down but I quickly changed to standing and walking between the windows keeping guard. Odd but true.

I started by looking out across the east of the city. An area I don’t know so well.

Who knew Hull was pretty?! At first I thought I could tell the time but by the end I had no idea if I had been there 25 minutes or 55 minutes.

On my way out of the door of my house as I left to take the sunset vigil, I broke a vase. Classic.
“Don’t worry,” said my understanding partner. “Enjoy your quiet time.”

After 40 years of driving east into the city each morning I finally have an opportunity to study the sunrise rather than shade my eyes from it.

As I enter the box, I turn my back on the more familiar west, the centre of the city, and focus on the less familiar east, the working heart of the city.
