Sunset 3 January - Naomi Bedworth

A beast of a black cloud threatened to steal the view of the sunset over the river this afternoon.  However, a wind (which let you feel its presence occasionally) gathered the cloud and pushed it away in such a timely fashion that I was able to wave goodbye to my 40s with a streak of amber sunset bathing the city that captured me over 30 years ago and held me in its arms since.  I have lived, laughed and loved in this place I call home.  I have lost and lamented those not here today to witness the magnificence of the city.  I traced every square of the city that I could manage, remembering the events, the occasions, the music and, most of all, the friendships treasured.

At all times a lone stranger in the Gardens below appeared to keep guard on me too.  I feel energised and ready to live into my next decade.  Thank you.
