Sunset 12 December - Joanna Hinson

Arrived on a beautifully clear winter’s afternoon.  Was a little bit transfixed at first when I saw where I was in relation to William Wilberforce and was able to share his view of the city.  I am intrigued by geography and experiences like this give you a whole new viewpoint.  The flatness of Holderness to the east and the Yorkshire Wolds on the horizon in the west and the curve in the River Humber.  Loved the contrast in buildings between the ‘industrial’ east and the town on the west and observing the variety of architecture to be seen.

Was completely mesmerised by the seagulls flying above and below me – quite surreal.  Was expecting a beautiful sunset in the west, which was indeed a pleasure, but the biggest surprise to me was the beautiful colours and glow in the sky to the east.

Time passed – marked only by the setting of the sun for me.  A nice time to reflect.
