Sunrise 18 November - Andrew Waller

Firstly, I feel very lucky to have taken part in the Vigil.  I am from Louth in Lincolnshire and during the last 14 years have spent more and more time in Hull to the degree I now live here part of the time.  The whole race, its people and culture have got under my skin.

I used my time in the pod while watching a beautiful orange sunrise over the Humber, reflecting on my family and recent struggles with health, not only for them but with suffering a stroke in May myself I felt lucky to be given a chance to watch the sun rise over the city I have grown very fond of.

Looking east over the Humber and reflecting how important that river is to the city and its progress over the years.  Also turning to the west looking at where there was once a dock where Queen’s Gardens are now and how different the whole area would have been many years ago.

Thank you for the opportunity to take part.  I have enjoyed the experience.  Long live Hull!
