In the box I thought about my connections to our great City, my home City. I found two old workplaces, the building I attended when studying my University course, the Humber Bridge where I run, the hospital at which my son was born.

It has been an incredible experience, an hour of just me, myself and our incredible city. Free of all distractions of everyday life, just my inner voice for company was a relaxing and calming experience.

Well, on my 81st birthday I got to see the sunset over the City of Hull. Certainly a unique experience for me and it certainly kept me very quiet. A clear night so I was able to see it plainly.

What an incredible experience! I watched the sun rise over our city as it began to wake up with the dawn.

I was expecting the whole thing to feel slower but I quickly lost myself and the time passed all too quickly.

As the sun ‘rose’ through a band of clouds into a clearing sky the sky and river were luminous and vibrant colours.

The sunset began with a clear sky but was contrasted by a rain cloud about half way through.

I kept watch over the city on a chilly Sunday morning. To the east the sunrise was obscured by a clump of grey cloud, an orange/pink glow hinting of what was hidden behind.

A beautiful bright sun that disappeared behind the clouds 20 minutes in. It was beautiful getting to watch the light dissipate over the landscape.

Seconds after the tip of the full moon set over the horizon the tip of the sun appeared in the opposite direction.

Quite an experience even on a grey and miserable day. No beautiful sunset but still amazing views of our fair city.

No blazing sunrise but the city slowly emerged from the cloud and the fog as I stood my vigil.

Heavy(ish) fog and cloud cover this morning. The shrunken horizon forced me to focus in on streets I’d never seen before.
