I have looked forward to being part of the Hull Vigil for the past year and now I am here feel very privileged.

In this unique and unreal position, in the ‘glass and wooden box’ I am able literally to look forward and backwards across the whole city.  As I look around I can see in many areas how the city is building and connecting the past to inform the future.  Also remembering my past family who came to Hull in the 1800s as immigrants from Ireland and my own family who love Hull as much as I do!

Watching the day end whilst keeping vigil in such a peaceful and serene setting is amazing.

Thank you Joanne Leighton, Freedom Festival, Nigel and those people who looked up to me as I looked over the city.
