Sunrise 8 March - Adele Emmerson

I am unable to recall the last time I just stood and to simply be . . . .   A privilege to witness the waking of the City.  The sun rising and casting light onto areas previously only shadows.  Field of view extending to distant hills which suddenly became a field of hundreds of individually enlightened chimney stacks.  Noticing industrial buildings from bygone eras which have been given new life as swanky apartments.

This led to thoughts of time.  How regardless of watches, clocks or alarms the City and its people are governed by the rise and fall of the sun, if they acknowledge it or not.  I am left feeling a sense of connection to the day, having acknowledged its dawn.

Thank you.
