Sunrise 5 March - Hayley Buchan

A cloudy Vigil but surprisingly evocative.  As the clouds shifted, different buildings and aspects of the city were revealed and then disappeared again as quickly as they were there.

I felt an overwhelming sense of pride and protector over this city of ours especially whilst reflecting on global events.  We need to look after this place and allow it to grow and develop in new, exciting ways.

I had a natural pull towards the West and recalled fondly some of my childhood memories from growing up there and now raising my own family.

The East brought back memories of places I’d worked – a much more industrious part of the city – undiscovered in parts perhaps?

When I looked out towards the river, I thought of how only 40 years ago it would have been bustling with trawlers all venturing out on a trip.  A constant flow of work, community and often tragedy.

Overall, I found peace in seeing things from a wider perspective without getting caught up in the busyness of life.
