Sunrise 4 January - Matt Stephenson

Started by switching ends a few times and pushing the limits of my not-very-bad vertigo until I was comfortable.  Spent some time worrying in a Woody Allen style that I would be underwhelmed and not really feel anything and then eventually allowed myself to just go with it – after running through and letting-go-of the usual range of daily anxieties.  The sounds of the city, the traffic was something I was particularly aware of.  The patterns of the streets, the layers of time, the way time changed and expanded as I went through the experience.

During the second half hour I sat on the floor and meditated for 15 or 20 minutes and felt warmed by the golden sunlight.  An hour could easily have been more – I would have been happy to stay.
