Sunrise 26 August 2021 - GARY BARRATT

Although you can’t take anything into the shelter with you, you still end up taking yourself.  For my hour I reflected on how hard I was finding it to get out of my own way and enjoy the experience on its own terms.  I have always struggled to be present and in the moment.  All my life, whenever I’ve had a meaningful experience, I spend that time telling myself how meaningful I must be finding it.  Perhaps for some people it takes some time and some distance.

I felt a real separation from the city as I watched it wake up.  I considered how fleeting life really is, and how busy we always feel we are.  Perhaps we should be trying to find some stillness and peace.  I am thankful for that this morning.  However, wherever you go, there you are.  Make peace with yourself.  You’re always going to be there with you.
