Sunrise 22 November - Claire Foley

I started by looking at the city as individuals made their way to work.  The buildings were dark but a few lights on.  As the sun ‘rose’ through a band of clouds into a clearing sky the sky and river were luminous and vibrant colours.  The sun created rays through the clouds and touched the edges in yellow and peach colour.  As the light increased the city became less important and the sky took over until the sunlight gradually touched buildings and trees to light them up.

It was hard not to think of the sun rising rather than it being static and the earth and clouds moving independently.

The sunrise is, for me, a positive time of day – a fresh day with a new start, new possibilities.
