Sunrise 20 December - Clint Wastling

A grey dawn but with good views to Grimsby’s Tower and The Wolds to the west.  I was intrigued by the graffiti along the River Hull and on hoardings.  How much effort had gone into design and colour.  Also the humour: Covid A becoming Covid 1984.

As the light increased I was able to see Beverley Minster and Hull University with the odd church tower I didn’t recognise from this vantage point.  It struck me I could see many of the places which marked important events in my life and my family’s.  East Park, The Guildhall, University.  Just great to have an hour to contemplate the city and watch ships on their journeys or being loaded with parts for wind turbines destined for the North Sea.

I was surprised how few people I saw walking or cycling but how many vehicles!  I think there were more seagulls than folk and one inquisitive and noisy crow!

A contemplative and informative experience.
