Sunrise 2 October - Kerry Smith

The value of a moment to pause is very much overlooked.  Prior to this experience I imagined that I would spend an hour watching the changing colours of the sky.  However, I found myself lost in the act of watching a city unfurl itself and enjoying the sense of detachment offered.

As I paused and stepped away from the speed at which life moves I found I was able to forget the bigger picture and focus on the small details.  Slowly, the small details of Hull made themselves clear: the individual bricks of the surrounding buildings, the patterns made by the paths in Queen’s Gardens and the unique colours of each building.  As these small details cleared I was also able to re-examine the small details in my life and to evaluate what is really important.

Thank you.
