Sunrise 16 January - Babs Miller

Well, what a privileged hour!  To see the sun come up over the River Humber, rising like a ball of fire from the water.  I absolutely love this estuary, for its history as well as its beauty.  I think it could tell a tale or two.

Watching my city wake up, albeit very slowly, it is Sunday after all, was truly a magical feeling.  I was lucky enough to see my sunrise on a bright, fresh, fog free morning, in all its glory.  There appears much more green space than I had been aware of, before seeing it from my new vantage point, would love to see it again in the summer.

Looking east to Paull, my home, I could see clearly the cooling towers at Saltend, quite a sight on darker mornings when it is still lit up like something out of Star Wars.

Really loved seeing the many old and majestic buildings of my city come to life as the sun rose brightly on them.  Would do this vigil again and again if I could – move over William Wilberforce, I may steal your plinth!

Thank you to all involved for this wonderful, special experience.  XX
