Sunrise 11 December - Debbie Little

Such a privilege to be able to view our beautiful city from a perspective not many people get to see.  I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was lucky to get a sunny and dry morning.  The clouds lifted like a huge fluffy blanket being pulled back to reveal an area of autumnal/winter colours.

The sun appeared like a glowing fireball and it slowly rose to light up the morning sky.  It was truly spectacular.  The city began to come to life below me, people travelling in their cars, buses, bikes, etc.

I was surprised how quiet it was in the Shelter.  The noise of the traffic was a low rumble, the occasional seagull flying below me.

I have always loved my city with a passion and it was a unique experience to see and feel it come to life before my eyes.  You realise just how small you are as life goes on around you.

Whilst watching the sunrise I felt at peace and was thankful to take a breather from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  I was able to see far and wide, across the Humber, the shadowy shapes of the factories.  The twinkling lights of BP, Siemens, etc.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be part of The Vigil.  I will remember it for a long time.
