Sunrise 10 October - Steve Welham

At first I looked for the sunrise.  Nothing to show as this city of ours was still wrapped in its night blanket and was still awaking.  As the sun slowly emerged fighting back the cloud it cast a warm glow over the city rooftops and life seems to begin with the rising of the sun and basking in its warmth and glory.

Seeing the city at this point is such a lovely sight as each building is cast in light and shade and shade and light as the sun rises, shining on lorries on the Humber Bridge and the River.

I don’t ever have a feeling of a need to write but I wanted to try and write a poem in the time I was on Vigil and seeing the city awaken.
