Sunset 5 February - Joanne Ledraw-Hesp

Windiest day ever!

Having booked the Vigil what feels like a long time ago, today was my turn to watch over the city.

Today is an incredibly windy day.  The willow trees in Queen’s Gardens swinging and swaying in the wind, turning green as the leaves start to grow, looked like dancers moving in time to silent music in the wind.

Watching people go by, feeling like a spy almost as they don’t know you are watching them.

As day turned to night and the lights started coming on creating a different view and shadows over the streets and buildings.

The sunset was a little disappointing due to all the dark clouds.  But there was, for a few minutes, a ray across the sky of red, pink and gold a small slither.  Before the grey rolling clouds covered it.

But the wind commanding and moving the clouds was almost hypnotising to watch.  I absolutely loved it.  Thank you for letting me take part in this historical art installation.
